What this site collects, and how cookies work here.

Last updated October 12, 2026. This page covers the Appalachian Music Collective website at appalachianmusiccollective.org.

Who runs this site

The Appalachian Music Collective (AMC) is a d.b.a. of the ETSU Research Corporation, operated in partnership with the ETSU Department of Appalachian Studies. Questions about this page or your information can go to marshals@etsu.edu.

Information we collect

This site collects personal information in two places. The first is the partnership inquiry form on the Partner with AMC page. If you submit it, we receive your name, email, and whatever else you choose to fill in: organization or city, title, phone number, and your message. That form is processed by Netlify, our hosting provider, recorded in a Google Sheets spreadsheet accessible only to AMC staff, and delivered to AMC staff to follow up on your inquiry. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for anything beyond responding to you.

The second is the show calendar. If you send us a show by email or through the listing form, we receive the show details plus your name, email, and role. The form is processed by Netlify and recorded in a Google Sheets spreadsheet accessible only to AMC staff; an email goes to our inbox. We use your contact details only to check the listing with you if something is unclear. They are never published on the calendar, shared with venues, or used for marketing. We keep submissions for one year after the show date as a record of what was listed, then delete them. By submitting a show you give AMC permission to publish the listing and to correct or remove it at our discretion.

The calendar itself contains no personal information. It lists shows gathered from venue schedules and public event calendars, with the venue, date, time, price, and a link back to the source. If you run a venue or publish an events calendar and would rather not be included, email us and we will remove your listings the same day.

This site doesn't have user accounts, doesn't process payments, and doesn't collect personal information anywhere else.

Cookies

No analytics cookie is set and no analytics tool runs until you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you click "Decline," or close the banner without choosing, analytics stays off and the site works exactly the same.

If you accept, AMC uses Google Analytics to understand overall site use, such as which pages get visited and roughly which region visitors come from. It does not identify you personally. IP addresses are anonymized, and Google's advertising features are turned off. Google is told to use this data for measurement only, never for ads.

Your choice is remembered for 12 months, then the banner asks again. It also asks again if this policy changes. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats it as "Decline" automatically.

If you accept and later change your mind, choosing "Decline" deletes the Google Analytics cookies from this site right away.

This site's typefaces are stored on this site, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts. The census video on Our Why loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode only when you press play.

Who else sees data from this site

Netlify hosts this site and processes the partnership inquiry and show listing forms. Google runs Analytics only if you accept cookies. YouTube serves the census video only if you press play. The show calendar's map is drawn with OpenStreetMap map tiles, which means your browser requests map images from OpenStreetMap's servers when you open the map view; OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy applies to those requests. None of these services is used for advertising on this site.

Your choices

Change your cookie choice any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page. To ask about, correct, or remove information you've submitted through either form, email marshals@etsu.edu.
