Built on what the region asked for.
We started with 1,213 people completing a census about what the regional music economy actually needs, and here's what we're doing about it.
One shared agenda.
One AMC committee sets the shared agenda. A backbone team handles staffing and shared measurement behind it. From there, grassroots committees in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, and Eastern Kentucky carry out the work locally, all connected through the AMC digital hub. Our six priorities came straight from the census.
Community Hub & Networking
Connect the scene through the digital hub, a show calendar, an artist registry and directory, and networking events.
Advocacy & Policy
Give the region a voice inside government and push for simpler permitting and regulation for creatives and venues.
Funding & Economic Sustainability
Pursue micro-grants, tax incentives, and new revenue streams for artists and venues, and make the economic case to cities.
Workforce, Education & Talent
Grow the region's next creatives through professional development, youth engagement, and a talent pipeline.
Communications, Brand & Journalism
Build a shared regional identity, earn media coverage, and start a journalism initiative that tells the scene's story.
Venues & Performance
Help venues book more shows, and make the case for more mid-size, all-ages, genre-diverse places to play.
Four regions, one committee.
Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia are where we started. Western North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky joined soon after, and our four regions now work as one Appalachia, advocating, funding, and building what our creative communities need.
